Kai Greene won the 2009 Arnold Classic (and a check for $130,000) to a standing ovation at Columbus, Ohio's Veteran's Memorial Convention Center. Showing up in top form, opposite of what other predicted, Kai presented a combination of mass, conditioning and an award winning posing routine. Kai was a ball of energy that captured the audience, the judges and everyone else online handedly winning every round.
In second was Victor Martinez with a check for a $75k. Many were nt happy with the placement as there was a smattering of boos from the fans loyal to Branch Warren who took third. Victor by far had the best lines and flow his legs were behind and while his conditioning was good, it paled in comparison with that of the likes of Kai, Branch, Toney Freeman and Silvio Samuel. Victor Martinez did what he had to do to come on stage and look and act like a winner and we expect great things from him at the Olympia.
Branch Warren took third place while again winning the most muscular award. This was one of Branch's best showing coming in real tight smaller waste and grainy enough to satiate any conditioning judge.
In fourth place was Toney Freeman, who looked depleted next to the rest of the line-up but no one could question that he was the most conditioned on stage. Unfortunately Toney was flat and was not given a second look during finals.
Silvio Samuel was clearly disappointed and took his fifth place award before taking his place next to sixth place winner, Mo Elmoussawi.
Congratulations to 2009 Arnold Classic Champion Kai Greene for a job well done!
