This really has not been covered very much, but there is a substantial cost to eating clean.  I was wondering what you hard core guys spend on food and supplements per month ( lets say natural ones LOL )  ----- I mean supplements

Off season vs. pre contest

maybe giving your body weight and height, might explain what ever answers you give.

I spend LESS money precontest. Smaller portions and my diet is very SIMPLE with little to no variation.

My food bill is KILLING me right now. Since my wife eats very clean as well I have a bill for two. It's usually around $500 per month with glutamine, whey protein and MRP included.

between bills, supplements and bulk foods...

Approximately $ 600.00.  I do not use supplements.  That is food and beverage cost only.

What am I suppose to do if my phone bill is higher than the food bill? Eat more or call less?

haha! Do more of both! I would think food is cheaper in Thailand, and tastier, too!

As for the calls...well, use the Internet!

Good luck this year!

Let's see...

RoxiGrrl is a National level competitor getting ready for the Nationals this year and I am a powerlifter. Let's just say our bill is a LOT, and we have already gone through three George Foreman Grills.

The gas grill on the back porch may as well be for that "Forgotten Chicken" because the flame is constantly on -  roasting some sort of dead carcass for the next few meals!

BTW, when we go to Costco, we get free valet parking and they more often than not roll out the red carpet for us. Hell, they once gave us a private viewing room and paraded all sorts of sides of beef, chickens and turkeys on skewers of gold! hahahaha.....sorry I got carried away.

Did I mention we spend a LOT on food and Costco employees know us by name?

They call me the "egg man" at the grocery store. I really can't figure out the bill but it's a lot. I'm not a big guy, but I try to eat 6-7 times a day, and that adds up. I never hear anyone talk about the amount of dishes they wash, but my wife refuses to do them, because I keep adding to the pile. I'm a dishwashing MoFo.

You're going to laugh at this.

$60 a month on food
$30 or less a month on supplements

I buy fresh beef at 99 cents a pound, chicken at 1.59 a pound, whiting fillet fish at 1.99 a pound, and tuna at 39 cents a can.  Then I get a discount on top of all that for one big purchase.  Frozen mixed veggies are 50 cents a 3 three serving bag.  I usually grocery shop 3 times a month spending around 20 bucks a trip.  I mainly purchase from a wholesaler which explains the prices.  Oh yeah, and I live in SC so food ain't too high

Supplements...well its not hard for a person in the supplement business to simply grab a couple bottles of protein powder, creatine, vitamins, gloucosamine, fat burners, etc.  I still pay for stuff like detour bars and such.

If you manage your money and you have a big freezer you can eat hearty without sacrifice.  Now I do have a friend whose completing in the NPC Nationals (will probably turn pro) who gets all of his food, supplements, and even his hotel, airplane tickets, and contest prep paid for him.  Some people are just that lucky.....
