food + supps= 750-$800 per month
I am paying too much -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Posted by: hardcore on Aug. 10 2003,20:08
Just food..... $800 a month. Supplements... $150 a month late,hardcore -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Posted by: gdiesel12 on Aug. 11 2003,02:43
Grocery store: $100 a month. Supplements: $120 a month. Restaurant food/ takeout: $100 a month.
Ways I save cash on food: 1)work at a gym: protein shakes at a good discount. 2)live at home: folks often cover milk, eggs, chicken, steak, oatmeal. 3)my lady cooks: dinner for me twice a week (at least)- always chicken. 4) eat at work: my shit temporary job is at a casino- get a couple of high protein meals there a week.
Hopefully when I'm married, in my own crib and my career is off the ground I do well enough to cover that $400 I'm currently skating around. Peace out. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Posted by: Vince Goodrum, CSN on Aug. 11 2003,07:01
Nope South Carolina. Only down part is that I have to prepare all my meals from scratch so my kitchen stays pretty messy. Supplements aren't exactly free, but since I own a distribution ship with V.P. I certainly get a sellers price -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Posted by: Ryno on Aug. 11 2003,10:19
You guys are paying way too much. Get a membership at a warehouse club like SAMs.
Top round steak runs about $2.40 lb. Tuna, 10 cans for about $4.75. Quaker Oats, 9 pounds $5.50 Most fruit $3-5 for big bags Rice, 12 pounds, $4.00 Chicken, 6 pounds, $12.34 Frozen veggies, 7 pounds, $6-7 Bar-b-q sauce and other condiments, around $4-5 Potatoes, 15 pounds, $4.00 Eggs, 1 dozen jumbo, $1.00
Either you fellas are shopping at the wrong places or you are all LYING!!!! -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Posted by: vanillagorilla on Aug. 11 2003,10:24
You to multiply by 4.33 now ok. You know to get the average.
Chicken breasts $64.95 Ground Round $45.00 eggs $10.00 Protein powder $70.00 carbs, condiments $30.00
This adds up to $219.95. All of this is based on averages. Gotta know where to shop. This is 6 meals a day also. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Posted by: vanillagorilla on Aug. 11 2003,10:28
Six meals a day for the whole month. I dont want anyone thinking I do all that each day. Some of you guys are spending way to much. It shouldn't cost that much to eat for the month. Go see a meat shop and get to know your butcher. I never buy my meat at Kroger, Winn Dixie, BI-lo, Publix, Food lion. I stay the hell a way from those places when it comes to my protein. I only buy my carbs and condiments there. DO NOT BUY MEAT AT A GROCERY STORE. Find a butcher. The meat is fresher and prettier to. DId you know that Kroger doesn't cut there meat. It is sent to them packaged like that. Gross. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Posted by: Hammaraz on Aug. 11 2003,10:56
$800 a month is insane.
For all you BB bros who eat a clean diet (meaning no "fat peoples food" as I call it),
My diet is dictated on what is on sale at the meat dept. Its always either:
$0.99 lb for ground beef (I squeeze out the fat after I nuke it and let it cool down with water, it dry and fat free).
buy one and get one free of steak
$1.79 lb of chicken breasts
if nothing is on sale, the tuna fish I bought for such circumstances when they were on sale for $.50 a can. Then I use Fat Free mayoinase with wheat bread.
Carbs are pasta(meat, spagetti sauce), potatoes with fat-free butter (steak, barbaque sauce) bread (tuna, mayo).
To boost Glyco reserves, post workout meal or whenever I need the energy, 20lb of sugar and 7 for a $1 koolaid packets mixed with vitamins and Creatine, Amino Acids.
$2 a gallon of skim milk for Insulin days (along with the Kool-Aid, liquid protein/carbs work great for transportation).
$3 a gallon for chocolate milk when I need the extra calories.
No supplements except gear ($700/year 40,000mg or about 1,100mg a week), insulin ($40/year, 24 IU's a week), multi vitamins (which I made, a 30lb jug of by looking at the ingredients of Life Exstension powder and reconstructing it at Beyond a Century), and Creatine.
All meals are quality meals at a targeted ratio of 3 carbs to 1 protein and no fat.
$100 to $200 a month for a clean diet. Dirk

i figured we spend $450 a month just on meat and eggs per month. 10# ground buffalo per week at $4 a lb. 15# chicken per week which cost $11 bucks a bag. 10 dozen eggs per week at .99 a dozen and 2 4lb. turkey breast per week at $3.49 a lb. plus we usually eat out at least once a week, all other food items and supp. it has to be about another $450.
