Page 2 of 2 Being a young athlete with a lot of potential, how do you handle your ego? How would you describe the difference in being "cocky or arrogant" and being confident? I often come off as just a little cocky because of my confidence. In everything I do, I grab it by the horns and take charge. I had the best physique in high school (won the Mr. Matawan), I have the best physique in my gym, I have one of the best physiques in Jersey, and I feel with more work I can have one of the best physiques in the world. That's just me... call me arrogant if you want, but I just have that "I can do this if I want to" attitude. Always have. Otherwise, I have no ego. I've been on top of my "little castle" for too long to care what people think. When I was younger, yeah, I always felt like I had something to prove. Now, I just cruise and have a good time without bothering anyone and without letting anyone bother me... If there was one thing to describe my training, I would say “passionate.” I do it because I love it, not because I feel like I have to or to prove anything to anybody. Do you believe that bodybuilding is a total narcissistic venture? Why or Why not? Bodybuilding at different levels is different things. Some people do it for fun, some do it for glory, some do it for health reasons, and others do it because they like a challenge. Bodybuilding at the advanced level forces individuals at times to be selfish and often self-centered.
It is just part of the sport. Ever try to ask a dieting bodybuilder for a piece of chicken? They look at you like you're crazy! Personally, I do it for a number of reasons. 1. I body build because I can. I have a physique that I'm proud of and a lot of hard work went into it. So, it's good to see where you stand next the best, etc. It's a fun sport for me... I also do it because I don't want to leave planet Earth without having some sort of impact on it. I don't want to believe that I'm just a normal guy and that will live and die without doing anything special for anybody besides myself. I like your MM (Muscle Mayhem) signature where you direct people to www.thehungersite.com. What are your thoughts about world hunger and how can YOU, by being a bodybuilder, help the problem? I believe that it's really not fair how we as bodybuilders think about adding on inches to our arms just to attain a certain "look", while others are dying of hunger... It's really sad and I want to do my best to make sure as many people out there realize how messed up it is for them to be worrying about how they look, yet not giving a thought to other human beings that literally die because they don't have some oatmeal or rice. What would it hurt for all of "hot-shot" bodybuilders with the 21" arms to feed a hungry person everyday? Save a life and make your life worth a little something more than your selfish goal to attain that next inch on your arms. Can you imagine that? If you donated $1 everyday to a starving kid or several... you (meaning EVERYBODY) literally have the power to save lives- everyday of your life. When it is all said and done—when bodybuilding is over with and you are nearing the end of your natural lifespan—you can look back at all of the lives you saved and all of the kids that grew up as a result of your life and some sacrifice. You can look at yourself in the mirror and honestly say, "I accomplished something in my life.” Living for other people- that's what it it’s all about... Spreading love and helping everyone you can- that's what I call a meaningful life, not the hollow one of looking in mirrors with tape measure in the "how much do ya bench?" gyms and all that...that's meaningless.
Tell me how BODYBUILDING as a sport in general can make the world a better place. How can we take the art of sculpting ones muscles and "perfecting" a body to do good for humanity? Bodybuilding can't make the world a better place. The people involved in bodybuilding are what can help to make the world a better place. Bodybuilding is an art...it brings people together. It directs people away from booze, unhealthy eating, etc. It's like anything else. There are the good things and the bad. It's better than watching TV and eating doughnuts, that's for sure... I know there are people that will argue that point, however, how many people die every year from obesity-related illness. And how many people per year die from steroids? The public is stupid, though. Most (people) believe what they are told to believe....
