Re: Paid Film Gig for FBB
the only problem I see is that....most legit film makers pay scale...aftra/sag....there is a scale....and what they're offering...$100.00 should raise flags...if any of you have ever been on a real film set.....the guy they have that moves stuff (best boy, best grip) etc... makes 3 times that....and he doesn't even appear on film...

Re: Paid Film Gig for FBB
This is a "Fan Film" not a real film, look it up on Google. I have downloaded some good fan films, this company made Str Trek VS Batman which I thought was funny and the Return of the Ghostbusters was funny, it was a fan film.

The problem is if you look at how the ad for women is advertised....Quantum Leap was syndicated TV program...not a fan film...that's my point....either it's bigtime or it's not...no matter if it is or it isn't ....but if it isn't do lead on like it is...that's all I'm saying...and I can just about guarantee you any TV show shot in hollywood...paid scale....

Re: Paid Film Gig for FBB
I'm certainly not the voice for this production company, but this kind of 'hair splitting' is somewhat silly. It was a simple casting notice passed along to me from Actors Access. I actually auditioned for these guys back in 2005, and all I can say is that they are the nicest group of professionals I've ever met. I've been in union, non-union, SAG and AFTRA projects, and you're right PicsMan, the pay is on the low end. But if you re-read their site, they're only asking for 1 to 2 hours of work at most. I believe that if you calculate that, it comes out to $50 an hour, which for a best boy or a grip, their daily rate typically starts out at $350 per day. A typical day's shoot is 12 hours (at $29 per hour), which comes out to $350. Their 2 hour rate is at $50, which is $21 more per hour than a best boy or grip. That's a fantastic rate for a couple of hours work in my opinion.
Oh, and you forgot to mention that they're compensating for gas, too, PicsMan.
Its apples and oranges, but they're tearing this all up over at Unreal Muscle too, which is completely unfair if you ask me. Its just a casting notice, ladies, NOT a trial for this company, nor should they have to jump through rings of fire to earn any forum's trust. Their record speaks for itself, and if you just take the time to look through their site (which they encouraged, BTW), you'll see a nice body of work over 15 years.
Again, I'm not speaking for their behalf, but get real. I think its a great way to get noticed in Hollywood, which to me, is what a lot of us actors in the business try to get. If I had the physique and build, I'd be in.
Its just MY opinion.
Peace and Love,
~Mimi

Re: Paid Film Gig for FBB
Sounds like fun. My boyfriend was in Batman and made a whole $50 for the day so it's not exactly about making a huge amount of money.

Re: Paid Film Gig for FBB
Looks like they found their Superstar!!
From their website...
The beautiful actress/model MELISSA DETTWILLER guest stars in 'Quantum Leap - A Leap to Di for'
In staying with the original spirit of the show, the Producers wanted to end the show with a funny, surprise ending. For months, the crew tried to come up with a unique way to continue on with Dr. Sam Beckett's next leap, and several fantastic ideas were tossed around.
One concept was to have Sam leap into the fanfilm of Star Trek vs. Batman, another had Sam leaping into Wonder Woman. As fun and exciting those ideas were, Director Christopher Allen felt those concepts didn't have the "surprise" element as the show used to have.
RACSO welcomes the beautiful and talented Mrs. Dettwiller to the Quantum Leap fan based production, premiering in Hollywood March 27, 2009 at the 2009 Leapback Festival.
She's also listed on IMDB for this role too, which REALLY surprised me! Way to go, Melissa!
Peace and Love,
~Mimi

Re: Paid Film Gig for FBB
According to their website, it looks like Beth Horn ended up getting the part! I was hoping to hear how Melissa did, but oh well... best of luck to Beth! She looks fantastic! It looks like everyone had a fun time. And look at that big 80's hair...
XOXO's

Re: Paid Film Gig for FBB
Wow, it looks like Beth Horn will be appearing alongside the cast and crew at the premiere in Hollywood! WOW!!! Shocked
I'm curious if this should be made into a different thread, announcing this? A great chance for fans to meet Venom from Gladiator!!
Here's the direct link under the events for March 27!
I am sooooooooo happy to see Beth get some well deserved press and be included on this! Yea!
XOXO's
